Courtney, Janie told me about your change in direction, and I think it's a strong move. We'll have to talk more about it in class.
Working in 2D is going to put more attention on the textiles themselves, and working with patterns is going to much easier (possible, even). It also keeps the stories behind the textiles closer to the surface, so that we can wonder where these things came from. Not that you should think conceptually at this point--you're right that this is a painterly direction, and color and material is plenty to focus on. I can't wait to see more.
