photo essay: henna + suburia

photography
henna on skin
(in process)

little boxes on the hillside,
little boxes made of ticky tacky,
little boxes on the hillside,
little boxes all the same,
there's a pink one and a green one,
and a blue one and a yellow one,
and they are all made out of ticky tacky,
and they all look just the same.

for this photo essay project, we were instructed to critique a culture. i chose the culture of traditional marriage in suburban america. to enhance the subject matter i used a traditional indian marriage custom...henna. my wonderful friend offered to endure hours of me applying the design to her back. what a good sport :)
these photos are just a few raw ones, i haven't photoshopped them yet....just a taste.
